Ntinda Ward Family Discovery Day  

Members and their friends come together to learn about family history

On Saturday 2 June 2018, members of The church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints in the Ntinda ward assembled together to learn and strengthen relationships with their families at a family discovery day activity. “Every family has a history” was the theme for the activity and it was presided over by President Powell L. Oketa the Kampala North Stake President.  


Brother Nelson kaggwa the first counselor in the Ward bishopric opened the activity by reminding the saints that Heavenly Father wants all of His children to return and live with Him.  “It is my purpose to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man”. He told the saints that through the temple and family History many of God’s children will be brought back to him.
Brother Silvia A. Kilama the Area Temple and Family history advisor encouraged participants to keep and preserve records. He encouraged the saints to make use of the church family history website promising that only on that website will their records be preserved for many generation. In addition to his remarks, Brother James Eboku the Ward clerk spoke about journaling and preserving of memories with pictures. He encouraged members to write journals whenever possible adding it with pictures will make all the process fun and enjoyable.


Brother Alfred Wafula the stake high councilor assigned to temple and family history work encouraged the participants to spend more time doing their temple and family history than on social media, for our ancestors are counting on us as saviors on mount Zion. He briefly shared an experiences on how temple and family history has blessed him and his whole family.


Stake President Powell.L.Oketta, encouraged members to make their homes the family history center, and to use technology because is a better way to bless their lives and the lives of others. He also encouraged adults to teach their children about family history work. Later on he shared with the participants the 2018 Stake goals regarding temple and family history work. For thus, they will increase their love for their ancestors and faith in Jesus Christ. Later on participants were helped learn how to use the family search website and enter and submit names to the temple. The day was successful and all the participants said it was a great day and time well spent and their ancestors are rejoicing.
